Life in the Spirit Seminar     Canadian Martyrs Prayer Group will hold a 4-week seminar at 7:00 p.m. every Saturday from Feb 2-23 at the parish hall.  Our members will be at the foyer after the Mass to answer your questions and distribute registration forms.

 

Youth Ministry         “Year of Faith” Retreat (Cantonese) will be held on Feb 3 (Sun) 1:00-5:00 p.m. in collaboration with WCCCLC.  Please refer to notice board for details.  All youths are welcome.

 

2013 Donation Envelope  is now available at the foyer. It will be reassigned to the needy ones if you do not claim it by the end of this month.

Migrants and Refugees, Welcome Home   Archbishop J. Michael Miller CSB will celebrate Holy Mass for migrants and refugees at the Holy Rosary Cathedral this Sunday, Jan 20 at 2:30 p.m.  All are welcome.  A cultural reception will follow in the cathedral hall.

Year of Faith and Health Care

 

Pope Benedict XVI declared a Year of Faith from Oct 11, 2012 to Nov 24, 2013 to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the opening of the Second Vatican Council and the 20th year anniversary of the issue of the Catechism of the Catholic Church.  The Year of Faith has a special meaning for health care providers and for those who are elderly or sick.  Brochures can be picked up at the info counter.

Migrants and Refugees, Welcome Home   "I was a stranger and you welcomed me." (Mt 25:35)  The Archdiocese of Vancouver is home to Catholics from many countries and here the Holy Mass is celebrated in 22 languages.  As Christians, we are called to reach out to and pray for all migrants to emphasize the unity of the human family and the values of acceptance, hospitality and love.  Archbishop J. Michael Miller CSB will celebrate Holy Mass at the Holy Rosary Cathedral on Sunday, Jan 20 (Sun) at 2:30 p.m.  All are welcome.  A cultural reception will follow in the cathedral hall.

Jesus’s Birthday Cake       Dec 25 celebrates the birth of Jesus, Son of God.  He is the main reason for Christmas.  Invite your family and friends to His Christmas Mass Banquet.

 

Cantonese Youth Group    invites all youths to serve at “The Door is Open” on Christmas Day (Dec 25).  This organization helps prepare meals for those in need.  If interested, please contact Kenneth at cmcc.cantoneseyouthgroup@gmail.com. Please also pray and offer financial support to the new kitchen and dining hall in order to meet the needy.

 

Youth Christmas Celebration        will be held on Dec 30 (Sun) 11:45 am to celebrate Jesus Christ has come.  Cost will be $2 including lunch.  We welcome all youths and young adult to participate.  Please register at cmcc.yyam@gmail.com.

Almsgiving in Christmas

 

To Love is to Give” Food Drive    One person, one canned food! Catholic Women’s Leagues (Chinese) is running a Food Drive for the Richmond Food Bank.  Collection boxes will be located next to the Parish Gift Shop, and counter will be set up on Sunday.  Please drop off non-perishable food items.

 

Cantonese Youth Group    invites all youths to serve at “The Door is Open” on Christmas Day (Dec 25).  This organization helps prepare meals for those in need.  If interested, please contact Kenneth at cmcc.cantoneseyouthgroup@gmail.com. Please also pray and offer financial support to the new kitchen and dining hall in order to meet the needy.

 

Candy bags for Agape  Need your volunteers hours? Join us and pack candy on Dec 10 (Mon) 7-9 at our library.

 

Donations to the Men’s Hostel    During winter season, about 100 men stay at the hostel on daily basis.  Donation of coffee mugs, winter socks and underwear are needed.  Please call 604-443-3292 or email menshotel@rcav.org.

 

Thinking of Seafarers        Love is needed for those overseas seafarers who spend their Christmas in Vancouver.  Donation in supporting “Missions to Seafarers” initiative to bring a gift to the sailors.  Please call 604-682-6774 or on at www.rcav.org/donate.

*         The Fourth Gospel describes him to be the “disciple whom Jesus loved.”

*         Stood at the foot of the cross with Mother of Jesus.

*         St. Paul listed him as one of the pillars of the Jerusalem community.

*         The centre theme of his gospel is Love.

*         Believed to write the Book of Revelation.

*         He went to Palestine, & Asia Minor for evangelization.

*         Died in A.D. 100 at the age of 97.

*         The only apostle who did not suffered from martyrdom.

*         Feast day: Dec 27.

 

Catholics Come Home Ads begin Dec. 13!        Six weeks of compelling television commercials will begin airing from December 13 on CityTV, CTV, Global, and Chinese television, inviting viewers to ‘come home’ to Christ and the Church.  For a fruitful harvest, you are invited to:-

1.       pray and fast for those you know who have stopped practicing their faith.

2.       Hand out the “We Miss You” leaflet as an invitation.

3.       Say a friendly hello to unfamiliar faces in church.
