Confirmation We welcome Archbishop Miller this Sunday to administer the Sacrament of Confirmation to 27 PREP children.  Please remember them in your prayers.

 

First Friday Mass & Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament       May 3 (Fri).  Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament from 9:00 am to 7:45 pm. Vocations hour at 6 pm, Benediction at 7:45 pm followed by Mass in Cantonese at 8:00 p.m.  Please sign up at the Info Counter. Divine Mercy Devotion  will be held at 7:20 pm.  Prayer intentions will be offered in the Mass.

Catholic Movie - St. Peter            A reluctant but passionate leader, from the crucifixion of Jesus to his own.  The movie describes the "Acts" persecution of the early Christians, the renewal of Pentecost, Saul's conversion, etc.  A moving and excellent performance by Omar Sharif.  May 18 (Sat), 7-10 p.m. in parish hall. All are welcome.

 

Knights of Columbus         will host its 22nd Annual Golf Tournament on May 25 (Sat) at Country Meadows Golf Course.  $55 per person includes dinner.  Please contact Grand Knight, Michael Wong at 778-834-3333.

On this Vocations Sunday, let’s us reflect on what Pope Benedict XVI said,

“Dear young people, do not be afraid to follow him and to walk the demanding and courageous paths of charity and generous commitment!  Cultivate a desire for what is truly worthy, for lofty objectives, radical choices, service to others in imitation of Jesus.”

Jesus said, “Come, follow me.”  (Mk10:21).

50th World Day of Prayer for Vocations   Given the increasingly secular and materialistic culture, there is an urgent need for the Church to incite and renew a yearning, especially among our younger ones, to respond to God's call to priesthood and consecrated life. Organ Donor Awareness Week    April 18th to 25th.  The Catholic Church approves of transplants and encourages us to register as potential donors.  While 85% of the population says they agree with organ donation, only 15% of us are registered donors.  The need for transplants continues to grow and many patients will die waiting for a transplant.  The Catholic Health Association of BC will provide donor registration brochures for any person who wishes to have one, call us at 604-524-3427 or send an email to smhouse@shawlink.ca.  You can also register online at www.transplant.bc.ca.

Second  Sunday of Easter – April 7, 2013

 

Divine Mercy Sunday

 

A Plenary Indulgence will be granted to the faithful who participate in this Feast of Mercy under the following conditions:

1.       Sacramental Confession 8 days prior to or after the Feast Day.

2.       Offer prayers for the intentions of the Pope.

3.       Receive Communion in a state of grace on Divine Mercy Sunday. Sunday Mass fulfills this obligation.

4.       Participate in a special prayer service in honor of the Divine Mercy on that day or at least recite before the Blessed Sacrament an Our Father, The Creed and devout prayer to Merciful Jesus: “Jesus, I trust in You.”

Divine Mercy Devotion will be held at our Church at 3:00 pm in Cantonese.  All are welcome.

 

Project Advance    The theme of this year is “Opening Wide the Door of Faith.”  It will start next weekend, and may our generosity to God will yield a rich harvest of faith through the power of the Risen One.

Health Tune-Up Day   CMCC Fr. Josef Eugster New Reflexology Service Group and PCA will organize Health Tune-up Day between 10:30 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. on Apr 13 (Sat).  Program will include foot reflexology service, health talk and review Fr. Josef’s talk on reflexology in Cantonese.  All are welcome.

Feast of the Divine Mercy at Holy Rosary Cathedral  This Sunday afternoon, Archbishop J. Michael Miller will celebrate Mass at 2:30 p.m. at the Holy Rosary Cathedral in thanksgiving for the Petrine ministry of Pope Francis. Representatives of Christian Churches, Ecclesial Communities and faith traditions will also be in attendance.  A reception will follow in Holy Rosary Hall.  Please spread the word!
