I am thirsty”         The Canadian Martyrs Prayer Group is sponsoring a Lenten Recollection on Mar 16 (Sat) 7:00 p.m. at the parish hall.  Theme for this year is entitled “I am thirsty” and will be presented by Fr. Elton Fernandes.  The Lenten Recollection is free of charge and everyone is welcome.

 

Mass for Pope Benedict XVI    All the faithful of the Archdiocese of Vancouver are invited to an Archdiocesan celebration of Mass in Thanksgiving for the Ministry of Peter of Pope Benedict XVI on Mar 1 (Fri) at 5:10 pm at Holy Rosary Cathedral.

Catholics from age 14 are bound to abstain from meat. Those from 18 years to the beginning of their 60th year are bound to fast i.e. no meat with only one full meal be taken.

Diocesan Confession & Pray for Souls   The Archbishop and the Office of Evangelization ask all parishioners to pray a nine-day Novena, Feb 11 - 19, asking God to draw souls to the mercy of Christ in the sacrament of Confession.  Each parish in the archdiocese will offer Confessions on Feb 20, 21 & 22, 7:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m. with a special invitation to those who’ve been away from the Church or this sacrament for some time.  Sign up to receive a daily email for the novena prayer at www.rcav.org/Novena.

B.C. Catholic Collection     The Catholic Press collection is held once a year to help the parishes mail The B.C. Catholic weekly newspaper to Catholic homes. The collection is a way you can help reduce the parish's expenses, since every penny goes directly to the parish to offset the mailing costs.  Today, please use the special Catholic Press Collection envelope in your envelope set to make a donation.

Permanent Diaconate  If you or your husband have been thinking about the possibility he may have the call to serve the Church as a permanent deacon, please join Archbishop Miller at Rosemary Heights Retreat Centre, 3690 -152 St., Surrey, on Sunday, February 10 at 1:30 pm.  Men 30 to 60 are eligible, married or single. This is the last information session before the application process begins for September 2013.

 

World Day of the Sick   Archbishop Miller will celebrate the Mass of Anointing on Feb 12,  2013 at 11a.m. at Our Lady of Sorrows Church, 555 South Slocan Street, Vancouver.  The sick are encouraged on this day to reflect on the Christian meaning of suffering and to recall God’s health-giving presence.
