Ash Wednesday (Feb 13)

 

Mass    at 8:30 a.m. & 7:30 pm (English).

 

Day of Fasting and Abstinence 

Catholics from age 14 are bound to abstain from meat. Those from 18 years to the beginning of their 60th year are bound to fast i.e. no meat with only one full meal be taken.

 

Stations of the Cross (Communal)   

will be held on the following Fridays: Feb 15, Mar 8, 15 & 22.  English at 7 p.m. and Chinese at 8 p.m.

 

St. Joseph’s Society Collection  34 retired, semi-retired or sick priests are receiving benefit which is amounted to $406,000 this year.  Your support next Sunday will be appreciated.

 

Diocesan Confession & Pray for Souls   The Archbishop and the Office of Evangelization ask all parishioners to pray a nine-day Novena, Feb 11 - 19, asking God to draw souls to the mercy of Christ in the sacrament of Confession.  Each parish in the archdiocese will offer Confessions on Feb 20, 21 & 22, 7:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m. with a special invitation to those who’ve been away from the Church or this sacrament for some time.  Sign up to receive a daily email for the novena prayer at www.rcav.org/Novena.

 

Lunar New Year Dinner  will be held on Feb 17  (Sun) 6:30 p.m. at Continental Seafood Restaurant.  We have the honor of having Archbishop Miller and Bishop-elected Msgr. Jensen with us.  Dinner ticket ($38 for adult and $28 for children) is still available.  Limited tickets left.

 

Consider Increasing Sunday Offerings    As we start the New Year, please consider the increasing costs to operate our parish.  Your offertory gifts help make the many ministers, community outreach and support programs in our parish.  Most importantly, you help maintain our place of worship for you and your family.  As God blesses us each year with many gifts, please consider recognizing the needs of the parish with a sacrificial increase in your weekly gift this year.

 

Estate Planning  Feb 26 (Tue) 7:30 p.m., John Nixon, Director of Development of the Archdiocese will present an Estate Planning Workshop that covers will preparation, powers of attorney, advance care planning, funeral and burial instructions and more.  This presentation will deal with matters you may not have thought about before but will help you gather your thoughts before you write your first will or prepare to update your will.  Free admission with free guide book.

World Day of the Sick   Archbishop Miller will celebrate the Mass of Anointing on Feb 12, 11a.m. at Our Lady of Sorrows Church, 555 South Slocan Street, Vancouver.

 

ONE Conference    The annual Archdiocesan conference - to inspire, unite, and empower Catholics in their faith and mission.  Hear from dynamic speaker Sr. Miriam James Heidland, SOLT, celebrate Mass with Archbishop J. Pursuit of Love” Musical Do we live on bread alone or is there a deeper meaning to life?  To align with Year of Faith and Catholics Come Home campaign, the Fountain of Life and Love will host a Chinese evangelization event “Pursuit of Love” on Mar 24 (Sun) at Michael J Fox Theatre from 2:30 - 4:30 p.m.  Kindly invite the lukewarm Catholics and non-Catholics seekers to experience our inspiring music and faith witnesses.  Tickets will be available on Feb 24.  Please call 604-818-6888 for details.
