Palm into Ash          Please bring back the palm of last year to be burnt into ash for Ash Wednesday on Mar 5.

 

Ash Wednesday (Mar 5)

Mass at 8:30 a.m. & 7:30 pm (English).

Day of Fasting and Abstinence: Catholics from age 14 are bound to abstain from meat. Age from 18 years to the beginning of their 60th year are bound to fast i.e. no meat with only one full meal be taken.

 

Stations of the Cross (Communal)   

will be held on Fridays during Lent except First Friday. English at 7 p.m. and Chinese at 8 p.m.

A talk by Fr. John Lam SDB will be held in Cantonese on Mar 8 (Sat) 9:30 a.m. Mass - 3:00 p.m. Confession.  Bring your own lunch.

 

Taking Sin Apart

What IS "this sense-making thing called Sin" on Mar 24 & 25: 7:30 - 9:00 p.m. Retreat.  Mar 26 at 7:00 Mass & healing,  7:30 - 9:30 p.m. – Retreat by Bishop Emeritus R. Gilmore, Dodge City, Kansas and Jacqueline Loh.

 

First Friday Mass & Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament      Mar 7 (Fri).  Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament from 9:00 am to 7:45 pm. Vocations hour at 6 pm, Benediction at 7:45 pm followed by Mass in Cantonese at 8:00 p.m.  Please sign up at the Info Counter. Divine Mercy Devotion  will be held at 7:20 pm.  Prayer intentions will be offered in the Mass.

 

A Christian Life Program (CLP)   Sponsored by Couples for Christ, it will be held on Saturday afternoon at 1:00 p.m. starting Mar 1 at the Parish Hall.  The CLP is an integrated course intended to lead the program participants into a renewed understanding of and response to God's call to them as Christian couples.  The program has a total of 13 separate sessions conducted once a week.  Please call Jolie / Marilen Catibog at 604-275-2610, Ning / Edith at 604-273-2426.

 

Neocatechumenal Way  A team of catechists will give the catechesis twice a week, every Sunday and Thursday at 7:30 p.m. in the parish hall till end of March.  All are invited to attend.  The catechesis will be given in English with translation in Mandarin for those who need it.

 

Catholicism             Journey Around the World and Deep into the Faith.  Hosted by Fr. Robert Barron, founder of Word on Fire Catholic Ministries, these 11 lessons (each with 50 minutes DVD and workbook) illustrates the truth, goodness, and beauty of the Catholic Faith in an epic media experience.  Class will start on Mar 14 (Fri), 7:30 p.m. at the Parish Hall. Please register today after Mass.  $38 including workbook.  Don't miss it.

Lenten Twilight Retreat : Living in the Gushing Water  hosted by Office of Catechetics on Feb 28 (Fri) 6:00 pm at St. Joseph Parish, Langley with Fr. "Celibacy and Marital Love: A Marriage Made in Heaven" on Mar 19 (Wed)  6:30 p.m. at Wicked Cafe, 1399 West 7th Ave., at Hemlock St. Van., with social and dinner, presentation at 7:30 p.m.  by Felipe Grossing on both marriage and celibacy as ways to follow Jesus and a response to his call to holiness as shown in Scriptures and by Church documents. $5 per person.

 

Freedom Reconciliation Event                for Youth and Young Adults on Mar 14 (Fri) 7:00 pm - 10:30 pm at St. Joseph the Worker Parish.  Free event starts with music, prayer, witness, catechesis and sacrament of reconciliation.
