First Friday Mass & Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament      Dec 6 (Fri).  Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament from 9:00 am to 7:45 pm. Vocations hour at 6 pm, Benediction at 7:45 pm followed by Mass in Cantonese at 8:00 p.m.  Please sign up at the Info Counter.

 

Collection for the Victims of Typhoon in the Philippines  Nov. 24 (this Sun), a special collection in the Archdiocese will be taken for typhoon relief.  Development and Peace’s Caritas partner in the Philippines will be coordinating distribution of food and shelter for victims of the catastrophe.  Donation can be made by cheque payable to our parish or donate online at www.devp.org.  It is eligible for the matching fund program of the federal government until Dec 9, 2013.

 

Year of Faith Closing and Papal Honours Mass Archbishop Miller will celebrate with a special Mass at Holy Rosary Cathedral this Sunday at 2:30 p.m.  In addition, awards from Pope Francis will be given out to men and women in the Archdiocese for unstinting service to the Archdiocese.  Reception to follow.

 

Wedding Anniversary Celebration on Holy Family Sunday        Celebrating your 10th wedding anniversary or a multiple of 5 (i.e. 15th, 20th... or 50th & above) in 2013.  Join the Renewal of Marriage Vow and receive blessings of God on Dec 28 (Sat) at 5:00 p.m. Mass or Dec 29 (Sun) at all Sunday Masses.  Please register by Nov 30.

 

Youth Ministry Sunday (Dec 1)     Assist the work of Office of Youth and Young Adult Ministry (OYYAM) in providing formation, training and support for youth ministry.   Parishes with active youth ministry programming will receive a rebate from this collection.  Please be generous in supporting the youth of our parish and archdiocese.

Perennial Philosophy Classes I: Introduction to Thomistic Philosophy from Nov 28 - Dec 19 (4 Thursday evenings) at Holy Family Parish.  This series of four lectures by Fr. Anthony Uy, FSSP is intended for beginners who would like to learn more about good Philosophy, which is the foundation of solid Theology.  Registration, please call 604-875-8414.

University Mass in honour of Our Lady  anticipated Sunday Mass at Holy Rosary Cathedral on Dec 7 (Sat), 7:30 p.m.  Confessions start at 6:30 p.m.  Reception to follow.  Mass collection will go to CNEWA Canada for Syria.  Special performance by PraiseTEAM at the reception.

Donations to the Men’s Hostel      Host over 100 men daily at our Catholic Charities emergency homeless shelter.  They are in need of winter socks, underwear, hoodies, jackets, umbrellas and your prayers.  Please drop off your gifts at 150 Robson Street, Vancouver or call 604-443-3292 or email menshotel@rcav.org.  Volunteers are needed for the Extreme Weather Response program when temperature dips to 2 degrees or lower.   Volunteers will be called to help supervise the shelter from 7:00 - 11:00 p.m.  Please call Frances Cabahug at 604-786-8981 or email fcabahug@rcav.org for details.
